India has an abundance of determined female leaders. Without the influence of women, our society is incomplete. Indian women have demonstrated their abilities everywhere; from scientific research to a cricket pitch, Indian women have set the bar and made our country proud. They overcame many social barriers and worked hard to achieve their goals.
We list a few well-known Indian women below who have left a lasting influence on the globe, despite the fact that there are many other outstanding women who deserve recognition in their field:
- Avani Chaturvedi- the sky warrior
In 2018, she became the first Indian woman pilot to take a solo flight in a MiG-21 aircraft. And In 2023, she became the first woman fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force (IAF) to take part in an aerial wargame abroad. - Mithali Raj- lady Tendulkar of Indian women’s cricket.
During the 2018 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup, she became the first player from India to score 2000 runs in T20Is. On February 1, 2019, during India’s series against New Zealand Women, she became the first woman to play in 200 ODI matches. - Mary Kom- Ms. Knock-out
Mary Kom is the woman who made India proud by becoming world amateur boxing champion for a record six times and the first woman from the country to win a medal in boxing at the Olympics. - Saina Nehwal- Steffi Saina
A former world no. 1, she has won 24 international titles. In 2015, she was able to attain the world no. 1 ranking, thereby becoming the only female player from India. - Gita Gopinath- The Fiscal Scholar
She is an Indian-American economist who has served as the first deputy managing director of The International Monetary Fund (IMF). - Hima Das- Dhing Express
She is an Indian sprinter nicknamed as Dhing Express. She is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships. - Arunima Sinha – The Mount Everest Girl
Arunima is an Indian mountaineer and sportswoman. She is the world’s first female amputee to scale Mount Everest. She has climbed each of the continent’s highest peaks.

She was an astronaut and aerospace engineer who was the first woman of Indian origin to fly into space.

Garima is an Indian chef and the first female chef to receive the distinction.

She is the youngest female CRPF officer to be part of the commando battalion for resolute action (COBRA).
